EICR Certificate Reports explained in London, UK

Cables that do not see electricity are often hidden inside walls. And consumer units are often hidden in cabinets. Do not be surprised if you forget to check the condition of the damage and wear of your Landlord Certificates equipment. Defective old wiring is one of the main causes of house fires. Regular checking of wires, switches, sockets and other accessories can reduce the risk of fire.

How old is my eicr certificate equipment?

EICR Certificate are some clear labels to help you determine the age of your home electrical installation:

  • Fixed cable with black rubber cover (stopped in 1960)

  • Cable with lead cover or fixed fabric (used before 1960).

  • Fuse box with wooden back, cast iron switch or combination fuse box (used before 1960).

  • Old round sockets (or light switches), strings hanging from ceiling roses, brown (or black) switches, or sockets attached to skirt boards or not (used before 1960).

  • Wall or bathroom light switch (used before 1960).

It does not matter how old the electrical equipment is. There is a risk of injury, wear and tear. Therefore, at least every 10 years or so when you move to a new property, you should ask an electrician to check your condition.

What is the purpose of reporting the status of eicr certificate equipment?

The five main purposes of reporting the status of electrical installations are:

  • Record inspection and test results to make sure your electrical installation is safe until the next inspection. (According to the work required to be safe)

  • Search for and eicr certificate report any damage or abrasion that may endanger your safety.

  • Find parts of electrical installations that do not meet the requirements of IET wiring regulations.

  • Help find anything that could cause an electric shock or high temperature.

  • Establish and record important facilities for future inspections and testing.

Status eicr certificate report type

In general, there are two types of EICR reports on the status of electrical installations in the country.

  • Status report-tests not included. Only suitable if the installation has been recently tested.

  • Periodic inspection report - this is what we usually recommend. This is a test installation and you will see hidden damage.
